The reason she got rejected isn't because she is "too boring" it's because these schools exist to be exclusive. They are only prestigious because they are the oldest, have high rejection rates, and cater to wealthy elites. I think what holds her op-ed back, was making a criticism of these ridiculous application qualifications, and instead should have focused on why these institutions don't need to be so exclusive, and how that ultimately holds academia back. edited for spelling.

These schools do not owe you literally anything. Manage your expectations a bit or apply to other schools that actually align with who you are as a person, just because your scores are good doesn't mean you belong there.
